The Pen of Power
I’m quite jealous of this great souvenir from Jon’s recent live doodling at ustwo scored by Thomas Nussmüller of Buero Augenbluten in Graz. You can read all about it bilingually here. He writes:
As I’m a fan of USTWO (cool Usability and iPhone App. studio from London) I saw a Livesteam of JB painting a wall in of their studio. I twittered to Mills (head of USTWO) if he can ask JB to give me one of his PENS of POWER.
Thomas told us via tweet: “The pen/ jb influenced me to see the Beauty in my imperfect hand-drawn work compared to Digital straightness.” Wise words and love the shrine to the pen! Hey Mills, can we have a pen, too???
Rotocasted: The Toy Collector’s Database
I want to take this rainy Friday and remind everybody about one of my favorite websites, Rotocasted. The toy collecting database is being developed by talented toy designer Sergey Safonov, and I help out as a “volunteer librarian”. I like Rotocasted for the fact that I can show my Collection to anybody with a computer, and by extension, I can share my Wishlist with just a link. It’s also extremely addictive. Want to see (almost) every toy that Jon Burgerman has ever made? Or which of Jon’s toys are the most wanted? How about what people are saying about Jon’s Kidrobot figures? Or maybe you just want to see every toy in the database that happens to be green? You can leave comments and make trades. It’s a lot of fun, and like most passionate side projects, it’s always evolving. You can tell Sergey has his heart in this project and really believes in trying to do the impossible: create an accurate, visual encyclopedia of art toys. Every time we upload toys and enter data about them, we’re helping write toy history. Check it out and claim your Burgermenos! One of Jon’s Dunnys is on the Most Popular page; let’s get the Heroes of Burgertown to join him! I wrote a bit more and posted some other screengrabs on The Neon Monster Blog.
The Man in the Mirror at NOISE Lab
Take that, MJ! We got our hands on this great edit of Jon live doodling at the NOISE Lab in Manchester. Now included in the JBVLA. Very, very cool.
Video Interview with Jon
Check out this new entry in the JBVLA produced by DEAD PXL. In this video interview, Jon discusses the past, present and future. Wow, as of this moment, Amir’s logged 64 videos in the JBVLA (and I just forwarded him another). Go grab a libation and kill an afternoon watching some.
Inkstrumental Sneak Peeks
Inkstrumental™ is almost upon us. We’ll have something exclusive for you from ustwo shortly. In the meantime, turn up your speakers’ volume and enjoy a sneak peak at the iPhone app (below) as well as a bit of Inkstrumental™ CRAZO™ (the unreleased “lite” version, above) that ustwo released late last Fall.
Posse Spotting: Harajuku, Tokyo, Japan
The Posse hit up the Vivienne Westwood shop in Harajuku. Look to the right of the Union Jack. Or go southeast of the Sexy Dynamite sign. Whatever works for you.
Images From NOISE Lab
I had a feeling that the NOISE Lab event in Manchester was going to absolutely rule, and judging from these images by Marta Julva (via @wonkydoodles) and the host of tweets this weekend, it really looks like it did. Drawing on a mirror while standing on a ladder without getting dizzy, falling off or puking! For his next trick, Jon Burgerman will draw on air. If anybody has video from this, please send us a link! Very jealous of all you English Doodlebugs right now…
Doodle Portraiture
Got this great picture from superfans Jeps and Evelien. That’s the pair in 3D and Burgerized 2D with their rabbit, Emo, who you may remember from his first appearance in the Posse. They’ve recently invited another rabbit, Krunky, to the family, so clearly Jon will need to visit the Netherlands and add to this family portrait.
Nottingham’s Book of Success
Nottingham Trent University publishes these lovely little books of success, and this one includes Jon, who graduated with honors! Stay in school, kids. Thanks to Amir for the scans.
Wacom Doodling in Oslo
Following up his successful Cintiq stint in Munich, Jon takes his digital doodlefest roadshow to Oslo Norway. Jon will appear at Humac on Friday, January 29th and then head over to a party here. Full press release (may require translation!) on Jon’s site.
