Sydney Morning Herald Toys
Jon was commissioned to create characters for an ad campaign for The Sydney Morning Herald in 2006. He created six characters: Finbaar, Noteboom, Persephone, Mifamwe, Barnaby and Wilhemina. A year later, Thunderdog Studios produced four of the “Interesting Creatures” (Finbaar, Noteboom, Persephone, and Mifamwe) as limited edition vinyl mini figures. Each figure is about 3 inches tall and comes with a tiny full-color newspaper. There were 500 of each figure made. These are some of my favorite figures, and I was lucky enough to procure a pair (Noteboom and Persephone) directly from Jon. Images below done with 3D rendering by The Glue Society. There used to be a special dedicated Interesting Creatures microsite, but alas, it is no more.
