Michael Jackson Tribute

Michael Jackson tribute by Jon Burgerman

Everywhere I go these past few days, people are blasting “Beat It” or hocking bootleg MJ T-shirts. Even stranger is the sudden rush to go buy as much MJ music and merch as possible. I guess death is the ultimate way to go viral. (Just ask Edgar Allen Poe or Van Gogh when you see them on the other side.) You gotta wonder what Michael Jackson would think of all this. He was talented and eccentric–a combination that often results in misunderstanding. His life had become tragic long before his death, though he was mounting a comeback tour (which people are saying may go on without him as a tribute).

Speaking of tributes, here’s Jon’s doodlevolution of the many faces of MJ. Michael’s transformation was very much a part of our generation. We actually watched his face change over the years. Jon captures them all in this image with no judgment; just observation. I doubt it, but let’s see if tributes to Farrah Fawcett, Billy Mays or David Carradine turn up on Jon’s Flickr. R.I.P. to the recently deceased and to the still living: Be safe with your pills and proclivities.
