ANXIETEAM

ANXIETEAMAh, how patriotic the colors of Anxieteam! This is the new music project of Jon Burgerman and Jim Avignon, two non-native New Yorkers transplanted to the Official State of Anxiety. From their bio as seen on MySpace:

Anxieteam are here to fill the void left by the recent passing of the King of Pop; They are are pale faced, look weird, don’t move as well as they used to and enjoy the company of primates. Through the magic of electronic sounds and fumbled strumming on the ukulele Anxieteam will transport you to a dreamy, low-fi, blip-bloopy pop world of anxiety, heartbreak and salads.

Citing both Ians (Curtis and Dury) as influences, Jon and Jim recall a bit of Family Fodder on tracks about the problems of overpopulation (including the pesky issue of Germans with perms, “Too Many People”), how nice it might be to be feline instead of human (”I Want to Be Your Cat”), hoarding one’s beer (”Beermouse”) and the ultimate vegetarian party anthem (”Let’s Eat Soya”).

These four songs of “happy magic and sad wonderment” are available for free streaming on MySpace now. Next live appearance is on August 14th at Factory Fresh! Go check it out, and support pop artists making indie-electro music for fun (not fashion).
