On August 21st, patrons will be treated to a live performance by ANXIETEAM. (There’s a good chance Doodlesplatter’s pals, I Heart Cool Stuff, will stream the event.)
The show runs through August 30th and also features work by Roman de Milk & Wodka (Switzerland), Ema (France), Asuka Ohsawa (Japan), Daniel Dueck (Brooklyn) and Christine Young (Brooklyn).
Here’s some info from Factory Fresh. A photo of ANXIETEAM and one of Jon’s pieces for the show follow after the jump.
The art world, global companies, complex societies and every small individual all have one problem in common: how to deal with the crisis. When money goes wrong nothing goes right. Many in the high society of art dreamt the dream of instant success and big overnight money, but the awakening was rough and most of the ambitious collectors had gone with the wind. So how can one stay in a market that barely exists in this time, where money displays a rather strange behaviour.
Jim Avignon, Brooklyn-Berlin based artist, musician and hopeless bohemian curated a show with 7 young artists from Brooklyn and Europe, which might have some answers for you. They throw their skills together and create a panorama, where strange and funny characters inhabit a peculiar zone somewhere between realist figuration. cartoons, messageboard-doodling and pure fantasy. Expect everything from unsentimental portraits, vibrant colors, playful items contemporary weirdness with a good old anti-establishment vibe.
Between high art and crumbling economy there is a common ground for inexpensive works, keenly tailored for broad appeal.
The show must go on.

Bands Playing:
Anxieteam (the new Jim & Jon supergroup)
Anxieteam are here to fill the void left by the recent passing of the King of Pop; They are are pale faced, look weird, don’t move as well as they used to and enjoy the company of primates. Through the magic of electronic sounds and fumbled strumming on the ukulele Anxieteam will transport you to a dreamy, low-fi, blip-bloopy pop world of anxiety, heartbreak and salads. My Favorite Things is Dorothea Tachler and her songs plus a fine selection of Brooklyn musicians. Take half a cup of indie, a spoon full of folk, 2 ounces of shoegaze and a dozen melodies, add some classical flavour, mix it with delay, distortion, shakers and recorders until you start feeling the comfort.
Larry Bang Bang (Switzerland) is an international cowboy from salami, texas. on his extended rides, he collects songs from all over the world. Fines in country trash comedy since 2003!
Neoangin Jim Avignon, cartoon poet and performance genius, regards himself a modern storyteller. With his 1-man-band NEOANGIN he sings charming electronics-gone-mad-jump-and-sing-alongs about the nowheres and noones in this world. BBC legend John Peel loved him and you will like him too !
Kim Boekbinder of Vermillion lies
Kim Vermillion Boekbinder is one half of the internationally acclaimed band Vermillion Lies, and one whole of herself. She plays retro-electric snap/crackle/pop and makes you forget where you are.
