I’m Sorry If I Smell
When this happened, it was so unfair. I’ve been wanting to visit Japan for going on a decade now, but the moon and the stars didn’t align in time for me to make it to Tokyo in time to see Jon Burgerman put on his first solo show there. The “I’m Sorry If I Smell” mini exhibit opened at FewMany and ran through December 14th, 2008. Between Flickering food photos, Jon sent me some great snaps of the gallery installation. I’m digging all the tiny canvases with Japanese captions. I like how Jon has integrated elements of Japanese culture into his work, even by just using paper and envelopes from the various locations. I’d kill for the doodled airplane sickbag (to match my other one). Heroes of Burgertown figures and Burgermenos Egg Qees were also available at the show. I’m finally going to get to Tokyo, but I’ll have missed the show by about a year.
Mini Canvases
These are four 2008 sold-out “high quality canvas prints, signed, dated and delivered with love.” They measured 130×170x10mm and featured Pinkcess, Zippy, Anton and Fluffer.
Under the Influence: A Tribute to Stan Lee
Under The Influence: A Tribute to Stan Lee was a 2008 group show at Gallery 1988 in LA. Jon’s piece is available from the gallery as a numbered and signed edition of ten. G1988’s second Under The Influence paid tribute to The Beastie Boys.
Duhprishus
Duhphrishus was Jon’s solo exhibition that ran from March through April at ROJO Artspace in Milano, Italy.
Duhprishus will lick the whimwham flutterbyes straight out of your eyes and smear them right back on to the walls. Subject to impulsive, unpredictable lines and cascades of pop colour, come and bear witness to the latest victim of Jon Burgermans’ slight of hand and heavy of head; ROJO® artspace Milano. This will be a full force installation with un-twistable stomachs and detachable parts, which will be available as collector’s items, along with the new monographic book entitled “Gribba Grub” and published by ROJO®.

Jon has three high quality prints on canvas at Blaugallery in the BLAUGALLERY III Exclusive Limited Editions series. Each item is 160 x 112 cm and signed and numbered. The three prints are available in an edition of 10 for 800 Euros each.

- Blue Train
- Pocketless
BlauGallery is a project that is driven by spirit and heart. The main spirit of the BlauGallery is to bring individual art to peoples’ homes in a perfect way. The task is to develop unconventional products that carry this art and make it available to the customer in the highest quality at an acceptable price. Therefore all products of the BlauGallery are sold directly from the producer to the customer via e-commerce. There is no reselling distribution. Jon’s work is available (while it lasts) at Blaugallery (from whence I’ve pilfered these pics…).
Pizza Paintings
Are these paintings done on the oft-greasy cardboard rounds that rest underneath a pizza or are they merely suggestive of them? These are original paintings in orange and pink, with poscas, acylics and emulsion paint on cardboard, measuring approximately 30cm diameter. They are £200 in UK. If still available, you can find the pink one here and the orange here.
Gigantic Pens Are Good Fabric Print
This large-scale fabric print (Approx 232×200cm; That’s 91×78 inches!) was part of Jon’s Because I Can’t Sit Still show. It is printed using cutting edge techniques, and the prints are made to order. He will supply it with two metal bars to aid hanging. Available here. [Note 12/27/09: Orders are no longer shipping with a certificate of authenticity, but if you're ordering it directly from Jon or Burgerplex, and unless Jon has been taken over by aliens, you are probably safe.] I wish I could get one of these!
Wilhelm Digital Canvas for Spectrum Art
Jon donated this 40cm x 40cm digital print on canvas to a Spectrum art event, which raised funds for the Safecare project.
High Score and Pong Kong for I Am 8-Bit
Jon had two pieces (”High Score” and “Pong Kong”) in Gallery 1988’s 2007 I Am 8-Bit show. The giclee prints on canvas measured 8×11.5 inches and were signed and numbered in an edition of 5 each for $250. They may still be available here.
Free Lunch Exhibit
Free Lunch was a 2007 exhibition of doodles, prints, paintings and drawings shown at Analogue Books in Edinburgh. Along with the usual array of colorful characters, Jon chose to explore the notion of getting something for nothing. Visitors to the private view were encouraged to bring lunch items with them so Jon could enjoy a free lunch on the long journey back from Edinburgh the next day. A small limited edition print was given to anyone kind enough to supply something edible. The exhibition ran from March 15th through April 14th. All work—including multiple digital canvas prints–was for sale. To gauge availability, contact russell(at)analoguebooks.co.uk.
