Humac Doodles from Oslo

Jon Burgerman at Humac in Oslo, Norway

Jon posted up some pictures from his recent trip to Oslo where he did digital doodling at Humac. Writes Jon:

This was my first ever trip to Norway. I noticed it was snowy but nice there.

Doodle Portraiture

jeps-by-jon

Got this great picture from superfans Jeps and Evelien. That’s the pair in 3D and Burgerized 2D with their rabbit, Emo, who you may remember from his first appearance in the Posse. They’ve recently invited another rabbit, Krunky, to the family, so clearly Jon will need to visit the Netherlands and add to this family portrait.

Hand-Drawn

Jon Burgerman on the Hand Collector

Just found out about this through a tweet from Infectious. How completely random and cool.

The Hand Collector is a project started in 2005. I started the project when I realized that the hand is not just a tool behind a piece of artwork, but a work of art itself. Send me your hand (a photo, of course) with drawings/paintings or whatever and I will add it to my collection.

Check out more handiwork at The Hand Collector.

Printed Matter 7

Printed Matter at Giant Robot

I must have completely missed the memo on this one, but I was over at Giant Robot in San Francisco tonight for the Buff Monster book signing, and lo and behold, Printed Matter 7 is up on the walls, including two pieces: Voices 2 and Together Alone by Jon. The pricelist doesn’t indicate that they’re sold out, and both are listed at $99. Call GR-SF for availability. Closeups after the jump.

Paralysis of Choice Artwork Available

Paralysis of Choice by Jon Burgerman

In case you missed last month’s Paralysis of Choice show at Elektrik Sheep, all is not lost. Although you can’t partake of what can only be fondly described as Absolute Doodle Claustrophobia, or touch those spectacular Deadgood chairs, you can still buy a few things. Check out the available items (at press time, 14 pages!) here. Or print your own catalog (worth it for the titles alone, not to mention artwork you can use to outfit your little dollhouse) by opening up this PDF.

Heads Up: Alcohol Unbottled

Heads Up by Jon Burgerman and RAW

Here’s an oldie, but greatie, that Jeps got as a little A5 bonus on a big Burger order he recently placed. Jon illustrated this small book of helpful tips for the NHS a couple years back. Although his name doesn’t appear in the publication, his distinctive and full color doodles enhance every other page. I don’t drink much, myself, but I left the book out for a while to be helpful to my houseguests, because, as you know, intoxicated houseguests sure do love PSAs… Thanks Jeps for sending these scans.

[UPDATE 3/2/10: Via a serendipitous tweet, I've found the firm co-responsible for these. They are Raw: "A tightly wound coil of creativity, working as a dynamic force in the rejuvenated heart of old, industrial Manchester." They received a brief that stated: "Offer young people a wealth of information on alcohol to help them make informed decisions when it comes to drinking." And the resounding result? "A huge thumbs-up from follow-up focus groups and positive engagement with the target audience." You can read more from Raw (as well as see the original location of the new pictures I have pilfered for this post) here.]

This is a great booklet. And Jeps, I still have your scans in the artkive! If anybody out there has anything, however big or small, for the Doodlesplatter, we’d love for you to send it in!

SuperFantastic Screenprints

SuperFantastic by Jon Burgerman

SuperFantastic is the companion to these SorryFantastic screenprinted envelopes. Jon has a long history of doodling on recycled envelopes. But don’t take my word for it. Check the artkive. Each of the 20  hand-pulled screenprints measures 8.3×5.6″ and is signed by Jon with different hand-drawn scrawls under the black ink. These are currently being offered for £50 at Burgerplex.

Movember Mustache Mania

Movember piece by Jon Burgerman

Congrats to the lucky winner who scored this original drawing complete with Jon’s own beard trimmings. The one-off piece was auctioned for the mustache-growing charity, Movember. All proceeds from the sale go to Action Prostate Cancer. Doesn’t this kind of remind you of that children’s magnetic game where you move the beard shavings around on a face?

Framed Pen Drawing for Spectrum Art Auction

spectrumartauction

Following up his 2007 Willhelm Digital donation to Spectrum Art comes this new framed pen drawing. The 19 x 15.5 inch piece, entitled, What Are You Trying to Say?, was lot 15 in the charity’s Halloween auction. Spectrum Art is a collection of projects to fund research into how art and music offer people with autism more than just therapy, but also a real means of communication. Spectrum is one of the UK’s leading service providers for people with autistic spectrum disorders (ASDs) and other disorders that affect behaviour, including Asperger’s syndrome and ADHDs. The 2009 art auction raised £34,165.
