Art From Pen Friends Show
The theme of Jon’s Pen Friends show at Here Gallery seems to have been recycled materials with a colorful array of envelopes (see previous post), reclaimed cardboard and cereal boxes. More photos from where I pilfered these on Here’s Flickr set. Contact info [at] heregallery [dot] co [dot] uk for details and availability.
Reclaimed Envelopes 2010
Every so often, we like to spotlight Jon’s envelopes. These particular ones are from his recent Pen Friends show at Here Gallery. You can also sample Envelopes from 2009, Envelopes from 2008, Envelopes from 2007, Envelopes from 2006 and Envelopes from 2004.
Close Your Eyes Until It’s Over
While I was over at Wondercon, and some of the rest of you were celebrating Easter, Jon was working on this tall order he called, “Close Your Eyes Until It’s Over.” Ironic title considering he invited us along for the ride through Twitter and Flickr!
Small Favors at Giant Robot

Small Favors, a show of about 70 artists working in mini-size, opened tonight at Giant Robot in New York. Jon’s pieces (particularly when viewed together) have a much more definitively downer tone than the My American Summer work he did for GRNY less than a year ago. This tends to make me think that it’s the chilly Nottingham air that is rendering Jon–much like the color of the paper in the work shown above–blue. Come back to America, Mr. Burgerman! (And will you bring your solution to standard-sounding indie music, aka Anxieteam, too?)
Lowriders and Columbots
Looks like someone let Jon watch TV again. You know what happens when pop culture meets Poscas? This sort of goodness. Leave a note on Jon’s Flickr to support seeing Lowrider or Columbot perhaps make it into a print.
Humac Doodles from Oslo
Jon posted up some pictures from his recent trip to Oslo where he did digital doodling at Humac. Writes Jon:
This was my first ever trip to Norway. I noticed it was snowy but nice there.
More here.
Doodle Portraiture
Got this great picture from superfans Jeps and Evelien. That’s the pair in 3D and Burgerized 2D with their rabbit, Emo, who you may remember from his first appearance in the Posse. They’ve recently invited another rabbit, Krunky, to the family, so clearly Jon will need to visit the Netherlands and add to this family portrait.
Hand-Drawn
Just found out about this through a tweet from Infectious. How completely random and cool.
The Hand Collector is a project started in 2005. I started the project when I realized that the hand is not just a tool behind a piece of artwork, but a work of art itself. Send me your hand (a photo, of course) with drawings/paintings or whatever and I will add it to my collection.
Check out more handiwork at The Hand Collector.
Printed Matter 7
I must have completely missed the memo on this one, but I was over at Giant Robot in San Francisco tonight for the Buff Monster book signing, and lo and behold, Printed Matter 7 is up on the walls, including two pieces: Voices 2 and Together Alone by Jon. The pricelist doesn’t indicate that they’re sold out, and both are listed at $99. Call GR-SF for availability. Closeups after the jump.
Paralysis of Choice Artwork Available
In case you missed last month’s Paralysis of Choice show at Elektrik Sheep, all is not lost. Although you can’t partake of what can only be fondly described as Absolute Doodle Claustrophobia, or touch those spectacular Deadgood chairs, you can still buy a few things. Check out the available items (at press time, 14 pages!) here. Or print your own catalog (worth it for the titles alone, not to mention artwork you can use to outfit your little dollhouse) by opening up this PDF.
