On the Scene at Analog Fest
A member of the Posse snapped these photos during Jon’s recent lecture at Analog Fest. Taken out of context, these pictures are hilarious. If you didn’t really know what was going on (which, come to think of it, I don’t actually), a stage has been made up to look like a living room, complete with couch, lamp and oriental rug. On it, sits a guy wearing a bright yellow Burger shirt with matching sneakers. He appears to be talking about abstract doodles and salads, while some sort of moderator looks on. Awesome. I wish stuff like this happened in my country.
More Anxieteam at the Nottingham Contemporary
We’ve got some more Anxieteam photos from the Nottingham Contemporary gig. These shots were taken by Meli Gueneau. Love the Jon and Jim puppets by Felt Mistress!
Das Inkredible!
Jon doodles on clothes and also on skin, so it only was a matter of time before he pulled a Gallagher and painted on what appear to be rain-slicker-like-coveralls. Actually, come to think of it, don’t these folks look a bit like Woody Allen’s sperm in Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex But Were Afraid To Ask? And I mean that in the politest way possible…
Lecture at Analog Fest
Jon is giving a lecture as part of Analog Fest in Den Haag today. That’s all I know, but you might be able to find out more here: www.analogfest.com.
Anxieteam at the Nottingham Contemporary
Without further ado, here are some visuals from this past weekend’s Anxieteam picture disc release gig at the Nottingham Contemporary. The detail-oriented amongst you may recognize Jon’s shirt as being the one he wore in New York at the Goodbye Blue Monday show. This begs two questions: 1) Should Jeremy get a new hobby? and 2) Why doth the T-shirt king double-up? All photos were pilfered from Hello Thor’s Flickr set. A special bonus is the appearance of Amir, head honcho at the JBVLA, as the red Soya dancer. Click through to see it all. More photo documentation of the recent UK gigs is on the way!
Brain Drained in Istanbul
Jon’s recent Brain Drain show picks up an “ed” and travels to Istanbul. Brain Drained opens today at Milk Gallery.
Burger Men Cupcakes by Crumbs and Doilies
How unfair to encounter this first thing in the morning! I blame you, Ken of Crumbs and Doilies! It seems that Crumbs and Doilies, the “spiritual home - or, at the very least, London pied à terre - of the cupcake” hooked up with Jon to create some doodled delicacies for this weekend’s Cake Britain show at the Future Gallery.
Sponsored by the good folk over at Tate and Lyle in celebration of their move to Fair Trade sugars a selection of the UK’s finest and funnest artists have come together with some of the country’s top bakers (and, er, us) to create the world’s first entirely edible exhibition. We paired up with illustrative supremo Jon Burgerman who was kind enough to provide us with this picture of some burger men (geddit?) as inspiration. A lot of baking, custom cupcake molds, sugarcrafting and a moderate amount of cursing later and here they are - Crumbs and Doilies x Jon Burgerman Burger Men!
This is all kinds of awesome from the edible art to the whimsical wrappers. I’ve come to understand that while we Americans may have the monopoly on hamburgers, the British truly understand cake. If you’re in the area, all proceeds go to charity.
Anxieteam Gets Puppetized
The talented Felt Mistress has created puppet effigies of Jon and Jim Avignon in support of their upcoming London Anxieteam gigs. Go see them!

Jon Burgerman is a Good Neighbor
Jon Burgerman is just like James Franco now! Both artists are on soap operas, though in Jon’s case, it’s actually his poster, Nineteen Something Or Other, that showed up on Australian TV drama, Neighbours. The poster (still available internationally via IKEA) was featured in episode 5951 of Neighbours, which aired on June 26th, 2010 in Australia and August 9th, 2010 in the UK. Thanks to Amir and the indispensable JBVL for the tip!
