Six New Era Doodle Caps
The era of that previously blogged Pens are My Friends New Era cap is finally upon us. Thanks to New Era Cap Talk, here’s previews of six classic 59Fifity and size-adjustable 9Fifty Snapback caps designed by Jon. The collection should be available this month at hat shops and all New Era flagship stores. The retail price will range between €40 and €50.
Pens Are My Friends New Era Cap
It’s Pens are My Friends for your head!
US lifestyle brand New Era launches a new cooperation with different artists from Europe. In line with the “Artist Series”, the creative minds design special editions. British artist Jon Burgerman kicks off the project. The 31-year-old illustrator became famous for his colorful artworks and cartoon figures. His artwork is admired in museums from New York to London and Paris. Apart from his cooperation with headwear brand New Era, he collaborated with well-known companies, like for instance, Pepsi and Apple.
The collection includes seven different styles. He designed the classic cap 59Fifity and the size-adjustable 9Fifty Snapback cap in a new way. One style for example, the “Pens are my friends”- cap is decorated with colorful characters allover. Burgerman especially attached importance to the detail. There is also some comic artwork on the lining of the caps for example. And on the bottom side of the screen, you can find his signature.
The collection will be available starting in June of 2011 at exclusive shops and all New Era flagship stores. The retail price will range between €40 and 50.
My wife says I don’t look so good in baseball caps, but there’s gotta be an exception for this bad boy. I can’t wait to wear this. I hope Greta is reading so she can ease into the idea of this on my head. It will also make a nice addition to Jon’s other caps in the hat artkive. [info via Sportswearnet.com]
Customized New Era Caps
Jon added some personal touches to these caps at his recent Kidrobot London signing. Above photo courtesy of Kidrobot. Below photo courtesy of The Daily Street. To see all the items Jon customized that blustery evening, click here.
ATZ New Era Caps
ATZ is the fashion arm of France’s Artoyz. They collaborated with New Era to help Jon’s designs go to his head. The caps use the classic 59 FIFTY model, with a bunch of details, embroideries and patterns and a silk lining. Each cap includes a limited edition t-shirt.
Greengoon Rip Curl European Collection
Jon designed a T-shirt, hoodie, cap, backpack, surfboard, snowboard and ski, surf and snowgear for Rip Curl Europe. All of the pieces in his summer and winter collections were made out of organic and recycled materials and have a unique Burgerman aesthetic plus a personal hangtag sticker with the Greengoon on it. Greengoon is Jon’s imaginary green friend that eats worms and recycles: “a classic Jon Burgerman character that fits perfectly in the Rip Curl Planet framework.” This gear is so awesome, it almost makes me want to be sporty. Here are tons of photos of the clothes, wall-doodling, the Greengoon and a video. Check it all out to get the full range of the range. If you stare long enough, you might have a Magic Eye experience.
Grumpy Hats
These were one-off cardboard and masking tape hat monsters from 2006. Said Jon, the Grumpy Hats “enable its wearers to become very grumpy indeed.”
Adidas Adicolor
Jon hand-customized a pair of sneakers (that’s ‘trainers’ in the UK or ‘tennis shoes’ in certain parts of the US) and a cap for the Adidas Adicolor Exhibition in Taiwan in 2006.
Dinkton Baseball Cap
This is a limited edition Dinkton baseball cap from 2006.
