Bigtop Jinny Toy Teaser

Jinny Bigtop

Bitbots is circulating a teaser for their new Jinny ‘Bigtop’ figure. ‘Bigtop’ Jinny sees the first release of their character with the discordant head in a new 6-inch size. Based on the image above, it looks to be a Burgerman. The figures will be released on August 1st in an edition of 500 pieces at $65 each. Will it look anything like Jon’s custom Jinny from 2010? Who knows, but it’s been a long while since I’ve gotten my fix of Burgerman vinyl. I predict that despite my criticism of this platform, I will want to own this figure. Well played, Bitbots, well played…

Bathtime Favourites Ballistics with LUSH

Bathtime Favorites by LUSH x Jon Burgerman

Last week, I incorrectly told you Jon was making soap with LUSH, but as it turns out, this great doodled tin is actually a container for “miniature bath ballistics.”

The Bathtime Favourites tin is back at Lush! This very special and limited edition box of miniature bath ballistics is an essential collectors’ item for fans of our fresh handmade cosmetics. After a winning collaboration with Lucy, he doodled this masterpiece and she filled it with some of our finest ballistics for nine fizzing and fragrant baths. Bathtime Favourites is a brilliant gift for bathers; once you’ve used all of your ballistics, you can reuse it to store anything and everything.

The Bathtime Favourites: Jon Burgerman Edition is filled with nine miniature bath ballistics: Think Pink, Keep it Fluffy (orange), Geo Phyzz, Blackberry Bath Bomb, Honey Bee, Big Blue, Sex Bomb, Avobath and Butterball.

Of the project, Jon can be quoted as saying:

I thought I’d draw some new little characters. We’ve got some of my characters on there and we’ve got some of the characters made out of soaps and… balls? Is that what you call them? Well, they’re all having a lovely time - they’re all partying. It’s a party in a tin.

You can buy the tin and ballistics for £29.95 (~$50 USD) from LUSH online here.

Devendra Barnhart Poster for Indie Rock Book

Devendra Barnhart by Jon Burgerman

Jon created this poster inspired by Devendra Barnhart’s “It’s a Sight to Behold”. From The Independent UK:

For the past five years, the Yellow Bird Project’s Montreal-based founders, Matthew Stotland and Casey Cohen, have made it their mission to connect, as they say, “indie musicians, charitable organisations and T-shirts”. They have now enlisted 30 leading illustrators to create an artwork each, inspired by 30 songs – all, naturally, by cool indie bands – and collated them to create The Indie Rock Poster Book (Chronicle Books, £15.99). The royalties from every copy sold will go to a series of charities, all supported by musicians with impeccable taste. The book is, of course, a perfect addition to your coffee table, but it’s also a potential cure for a bare wall.

The Indie Rock Poster Book is available for $25 through Chronicle Books here and The Yellow Bird Project here.

LUSH Soap in a Tin Doodle Box

Jon Burgerman tin for LUSH

I’ve been waiting to see what’s inside the colorful tin Jon recently posted to Flickr (and tagged “lovely” and “likable”). Thanks to a tweet from Danny, we have the reveal. I did a little more stalking sleuthing and found out that what look like delicious scoops of sorbet and gelato are, instead, decorative soaps! The soaps are being produced by LUSH, international purveyors of “fresh handmade cosmetics,” and are due out this summer. So, in case you need to feel more confused when your early morning alarm goes off, here now are soaps that you will want to eat in the shower. Can’t wait! Click through to see the spoiler. 10% Off Safewalls Totem Print

Totem Print for Safewalls by Jon Burgerman

I’m late on the game reporting Jon’s Totem print for SAFEWALLS, but I did just find out that if you order now, you can get 10% off by entering “AM10POFF3D” at checkout. Does that make up for my tardiness?

Enjoy this feast for the eyes alternative poster by Jon Burgerman for Cirque du Soleil ® TOTEM. Giclée on Epson Enhanced Matte 192 gsm. Paper size 24″ x 36″, image size 22″ x 33 1/2″. Printed in Canada.

Here’s a bit more about SAFEWALLS:

Each month, SAFEWALLS is pairing up with three cutting-edge artists to create original art posters inspired by Cirque du Soleil shows. With these artworks, SAFEWALLS tours the world following the trail of Cirque du Soleil shows to hold a monthly exhibition that grows in size as works from previous cities are added to the collection. By bringing Cirque du Soleil and visual artists together, SAFEWALLS celebrates street art and culture—the very roots of Cirque—and breathes new life into the time-honoured art form that is the vintage circus poster.

The term “safe walls” refers to legal spots in the urban landscape for local graffiti artists to do their work without the fear of sanctions.

Jon’s print is available now for $55 (don’t forget the discount code!) here.

We Play at the V&A Risograph Print

We Play at the V&A Risograph Print by Jon Burgerman

Jon has a new print at the Victoria and Albert Museum:

The print, entitled ‘We Play at the V&A’, is about the exploration experienced by visitors to the museum. There are references to modern day culture and fashions in the characters as they dance around a selection of exhibits from the museums collection. The characters are caught contemplating the worth of the trinkets and clutter they surround their modern lives with and whether they will hold any value in hundreds of year’s time. Perhaps that’s not important now though; perhaps we should enjoy, learn and play whilst we still can.

The print was created exclusively for the V&A, and every purchase supports the museum. It’s an A3 risograph print (which translates to 11.7 x 16.5 inches), signed and numbered in an edition of 200 for 25 Euros (which translates to ~$36USD) available here.

A Week of Audio Tweets

audio-tweetsQuoth the Burgerman:

Instead of posting silly thoughts on Twitter I thought I’d create a song a day, of 140 seconds or less instead. I intend to do this for a week. The project is called A Week of Audio Tweets.

First up is “I’m a Pigeon”. You can listen to and download the new songs HERE.
