Posse Spotting: Saturn Cafe, Santa Cruz, California

Posse Spotting at Saturn Cafe, Santa Cruz, CA

If Jon ever manages to make it out to Northern California, the Posse has staked out Saturn Cafe in Santa Cruz for a great lunch. This place really is my “favorite space age vegetarian diner.”

Saturn Café offers traditional comfort food with a healthy twist. Stepping into the Saturn Café, you know you have arrived on another planet. Our friendly and knowledgeable staff strives each day to exceed your expectations, and engage and delight your senses. This is a place where dressing up in a costume can happen on any night of the year, where the foods of childhood fantasies are even more delicious than you remember, and magic might just lie around the corner of every sparkly, pink booth.

Also, the staff are cute punk kids, the tables feature dioramas and the restrooms throw gender to the wind, instead offering you the options of robots vs. aliens.

Posse Spotting: Depot for Creative Reuse

Posse Spotting: The Center for Creative Reuse in Oakland

We love the East Bay Depot for Creative Reuse. We think the Posse did good on this one, as Jon is really committed to reusing materials too.

The East Bay Depot for Creative Reuse is an ecological treasure trove of art & craft materials, educational supplies, vintage furniture, home décor, paper goods, fabric, and much more. Founded in 1979 by two Oakland public school teachers, the Depot promotes solid waste diversion and resource conservation through the Depot store and environmental education programs.

In early Fall, we found the above Posse sticker in the company of Rock Hudson, a shout out to heavy metal and a merry assortment of sliced tomato and pepper magnets. When we returned this week, Jon had been joined by Alfred E. Neuman, Dead Eyes, the alphabet and some really GOOD NEWS. I got this picture, and Greta got 5 vintage patterns, 1 broken candle, the tiniest bath tub you ever did see and a clear Christmas ornament, all for $1.81. If you’re in the Temescal neighborhood of Oakland, CA, they’ve got a ton of new hardcover Upper Playground art books for only $2.50 each.

Posse Spotting: Oakland, California

Posse Spotting: Oakland, CA

The posse has touched down in Oaktown. There’s a lot of awesomeness in this montage. Straight from the center, we’ve got a little lesson in local linguistics. On the top and right periphery, two great stickers by GATS. Finally, in the lower right-hand corner, someone has shared the truism that “Sherilyn Fenn was -by far- the hottest chick on Twin Peaks.” Hella true indeed. I mean, her closest competition was a corpse. Something tells me the posse is not done with The Bay Area…
