Little Big Planet Level Pack
Media Molecule, creators LittleBigPlanet hired Jon to create a new level pack for the game. This would be Jon’s second game track following WipEout Pure.
Edge Online had this to say:
The pack will work well with a forthcoming downloadable update to the game that will include a new tool that automatically cuts material to the shape of a sticker, allowing players to more easily create in-game objects using stickers.
“Jon Burgerman’s a good friend of Rex [Crowle, the graphic artist behind much of LBP’s original stickers and its box art],” says [Kareem] Ettouney. “He asked Jon if he could do some illustrations that we could have in the game and he just did a heap of them. They are so empowering those bits because you just stick them on the materials, cut it out, and you’ve got like a handmade character Jon Burgerman piece.”
Sounds awesome.
Inkstrumental
Dammit, now I really need an iPhone:
A motley crew of Jon Burgerman characters are the line-up for a new iPhone game called Inkstrumental™.
This crazy game, coming soon for iPhone and iPod touch, lets you create music by touching the characters, who each play a sound from a selection of weird and wonderful samples and noises. You can make different tunes by putting the characters in various sequences and touching them like a synthesizer keyboard. You will also be able share your Inkstrumental™ creations with other users, and hear what inkstrumentalists™ around the globe have come up with.
Inkstrumental™ is a collaboration between doodle meister Jon Burgerman and digital design studio ustwo™ (the people who brought us iPhone apps MouthOff™ and Steppin™).
This looks so great. Classic characters, delicious doodles and tons of tunes. Jon’s last foray into game design for gadgets was Burgertown Races for WipEout Pure on the PSP. Inkstrumental™ will introduce legions of Apple fans to Jon’s art (vice versa). Read on for more images and video teasers.
Sausage Smackdown
Jon made a cell phone game for Moket available on Voeveo for 2.34 GBP here. Sausage Smackdown is described as:
Whilst making the King of the Kitchen Kingdom his breakfast, the sausages escaped from under Steve’s watchful eyes. Fleeing the Castle of Cooking, the sausages have taken to living underground. It is down to Sausage Smacker Steve to round up the escaped sausages before the kind wakes up for his giant breakfast and notices them gone!
Moket is a globally renowned designer, developer and publisher of Flash content for mobile, web and broadcast channels. Based in Brisbane Australia, Moket has created mobile games, wallpapers, screensavers, applications and animations for leading brands in Korea, Singapore, USA and Europe.
Burgertown Races for WipEout Pure
Jon designed a level for WipEout Pure on the PSP platform. There’s a detailed FAQ for the game that refers to Jon’s level, Burgertown Races, as “vibrant, hyper-landscaped.” All European Sony PSP owners with a copy of WipEout Pure could download the Burgertown Races and TurboWeevel Ship as part of the free Omega pack. Paris Hair, Cardboy and 123Klan also did work for WipeOut Pure.
Futuristic racing zips onto PSP in this launch title. As in earlier editions of Wipeout, gamers pilot anti-gravity vehicles in races where brutal combat can play as big a role as blazing speed. Wireless multiplayer connectivity supports as many as eight human-controlled racers in the same game. Publisher Sony promises the availability of future downloadable content, including new music, circuits, and vehicles, to help keep the race going long after the light turns green. ~ All Game Guide
