Fancy Some Tea in the Park?

Jon Burgerman's This is a Limited Edition Tea Cup

In my experience, tea-drinking in the U.S. is not as evolved or habitual a pastime as it is in the U.K., but our newest slogan is about change, isn’t it? Although mobility is a reality of our modern lifestyle, you might be looking to upgrade from this handy portable beverage tumbler to something a bit more fancy. This is a Limited Edition, who previously brought us the Trample and Scrum pillows, are here to help you be more like what Drake was talking about on the MTV VMAs. The California posse has been promised a sample for review, so we will post an update when we are suitably fancy with pinky pronation…

Jon Burgerman's This is a Limited Edition Tea Cup

This is not a plastic crap cup. This is a limited edition. It is also a “Demitasse cup and saucer set made from Staffordshire Bone China”. The tea set comes in a handsome collector’s box with an A6 Fine Art Print (from this design, though bearing no relation to the Gary Numan song of similar name) and a certificate of authenticity.

Lunartik in a Cup of Tea Custom

Lunartik in a Cup of Tea Custom by Jon Burgerman

I’ve been eagerly awaiting Matt “Lunartik” JOnes’ Lunartik in a Cup of Tea toy, and with a release date of August, the six production colorways loom closer. Since I’ve got the Green Tea edition on lockdown, all I can do is wait, and now, covet. The uber-talented Cris Rose recently joined Matt and a handful of other artists, including Jon, in customizing the tea cups for a show at Iksentrik. Rumor has it the tea will travel and eventually be auctioned off for charity. Photos of Jon’s Lunartik in a Cup of Tea from Cris’ Flickr set. Buy your own Cup of Tea (including a DIY version) here. Bonus! The last photo shows Ice-T “cool refreshing” Lunartik in a Cup of Tea has stood beside a Burgerman figure before. Here he is with Tiny Hero from Jon’s Heroes of Burgertown series in a snap of blues hues from Matt’s personal collection.

Tea at Teaforest

teaforest

This Saturday, June 6th, Jon will be sipping tea and doing an informal meet-and-greet in Culver City, CA at Teaforest. You may recall that Teaforest put up some doodly decor by Jon in 2007. Head over and say hi if you’re local. And remember: Cute and Dangerous is coming to the LA-area on June 12th.

Tea Forest Cafe

How cool is this? Imagine being able to enjoy your coffee or tea amidst a splendor of Jon Burgerman art. Well that fantasy is a reality for students and teaheads in the Culver City, CA area. Tea Forest just has a splash page for a website, but you can read what people (who have too much time on their hands) have to say about them over at Yelp. No mention of the great decor???
