Jon Burgerman is a Good Neighbor

Jon Burgerman is just like James Franco now! Both artists are on soap operas, though in Jon’s case, it’s actually his poster, Nineteen Something Or Other, that showed up on Australian TV drama, Neighbours. The poster (still available internationally via IKEA) was featured in episode 5951 of Neighbours, which aired on June 26th, 2010 in Australia and August 9th, 2010 in the UK. Thanks to Amir and the indispensable JBVL for the tip!

Lossy Botany Lab: The Plant Plushes

JB x FM collabs for Lossy Botany Lab

Remember this great Felt Mistress teaser? Felt Mistress really knocked it out of the park with these felted fruits, veggies and plants. As with most of Jon’s shows, there is a ton of work, so here’s just a glimpse at some of the plushes photographed by Jeps and Evelien (of Darker and the Dutch Doodlesplatter posse). Stay tuned (or if you’re at the last one, look back) for a plethora of posts [click here for current tag archive], each concerning a separate element of the installation and exhibit (as well as the pricelist from heliumcowboy artspace). Click through to see some of the great soft sculptures, a pic with Evelien to show the size of these buggers and a little video too. Head over to Felt Mistress’ Flickr set for even more fantastic felty foliage.

Lossy Botany Lab Sneak Peeks Part 6: The Installation

Here’s a cool stop motion video made by the fine folks at Hamburg’s heliumcowboy artspace. The video depicts various lab techs involved in the construction of the building, whilst Jon occasionally pops into the foreground with a banana.

Here’s an early blueprint of the Lossy Botany Lab, back when it was still called a Lossy Botnay Lab. Ha! As they say across the pond, just taking the piss out of ya there.

This picture shows that it’s very important to choose safety when engaged in building. For instance, abandon goggles and pick up beer. What a lovely staff at heliumcowboy artspace. I hope to someday visit.  Read the rest of this entry »
